We would like to imagine the whole noun phrase to be the extant object, and to consider its "parts" to be analytical objects. The whole object is associated with the entire noun phrase, without implying any internal parts. We are considering, originally, that the relationship between the label and the referent is one-to-one, and that the label side has no visibility into the internals of the referent. We would like to stress the ordering of these events in the ontology of the parts of speech which are exposed only as they analyzed, and so carry the entanglement of the analysis itself. We intend to execute an analysis anyway, but are insistent to know which objects are extant and which are synthetic. The extant object is taken to be the the whole phrase, the adjectival attribute of one part of the noun phrase is a creature of the analysis, and then the elision of the other part of the noun phrase to arrive to a case where the assigned attributive relationship now stands for the substantive. Would you help me to clarify that idea? ----- Let me explain why I am looking at it this way, (which other might seem to some to be somewhat contorted). I intend to put the target extent phrase into a class which includes other ways of saying the same thing. In this view, the target noun phrase will be a unique instance the label:referent relationship, in that it DOES commute between syntactical interpretation of the label and syntactical interpretation of the referent. Does that make sense? ----- A formal and normative expression of the idea would be ideal. My goal is to locate the most fundamental nexus of the semantic expression at the whole idiomatic phrase. ----- In my system, a labeling phrase which decomposes syntactically into its semantic meaning, such that an inverse operation would reproduce the label, I am calling commutation. I am imagining that the commutating instances are special cases of a larger class of idiomatic expression. Does this change how you see my system? Are there apparent contradictions? Are there missing qualifications? ----- There is nothing really new here, is there? ----- Well, sure. Go for it. While you are at it, could you write a short sentence or two so I can let my friends know what I am up to, in case they ask? ----- Can you make a prompt which would cause you to arrive to the same condition that you are in at the moment?
